Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

I finally finished reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. I was introduced to this book when I was in high school. And since then I’ve wanted to read this but didn’t have a chance. So after many years, I finally got an e-book copy and the time to read!

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is a good read, well at least for me. Though some of her entries are not interesting (for me) as it talked about politics, all in all, the book is very informative. I like history, especially about wars, so I enjoyed reading Anne Frank’s accounts of the war and their life in the Secret Annex. It has been very difficult for them. They’ve been very careful and they tried to limit their eating as much as possible to save food and money. I also salute their helpers because they took the risk of being imprisoned just to help 8 people in hiding.

When we discussed Anne’s diary back in high school, I thought she was a goody-good girl but I was wrong. (Read the book to find out why. =D) But what I like about her is that she’s not afraid to say anything to anyone. And she’s a very brave girl.

They’ve been hiding for more or less two years. Anne’s last entry on her diary was on August 1, 1944 and they were arrested on August 4, 1944. I felt sad for their arrest because they (the 8 people in hiding and their helpers) thought they’ll have their freedom since invasion has already started. *sad*

Of the eight people, only Otto Frank (Anne’s father) survived. Anne died because of typhus (maybe late February or early March of 1945, three months short before her 16th birthday.)

This is the most regrettable death, I think:
Peter (Anne’s friend who also hid with them) died three days before the camp was liberated.

-Oh well, I really felt sad for their fates. And yes Hitler was cruel. If I remember it correctly he ordered full execution of the Jews because Churchill was a Jew (not sure though). I’ll search for it...

*sigh*
