The Last Song

Last Sunday, my good friend, Ghem, and I went to see The Last Song. She also let me borrow the book which I read after the movie...

The movie was good until I read the book. In the movie, I was a little confused about the main focus of the story. I didn’t know if it was between Ronnie and Steve (her father) or if it’s between Ronnie and Will. Upon reading the book, I found out that it is more of a Ronnie and Steve. The book emphasized the powerful daughter and father relationship. It showed how despite of everything painful that happened, love can still overpower things. It showed how important family is and how supporting and forgiving a parent can be despite having a “rebel” kid. Love is really everything. I got teary-eyed when Steve was already dying. It must be hard to see your dad dying and you feel helpless. =( The book made me cry, the last few chapters made me cry...

There were a lot of edits in the movie, some I think are inappropriate. I also think that the movie was more of a Ronnie and Will love story but I think it’s quite fine. I find Ronnie and Will funny. They are not the cheesy kind of couple and they did a lot of fun things...(especially in the book!!!) And also, not that I’m a Miley Cyrus hater, but I do not like the way she portrayed Ronnie. I wish it was someone else...

There are other things I want to compare but my thoughts are not organize. As you can see (or read)... Anyway, the book is much much better. And Nicholas Sparks did a great job, again! =)

Here are my favorite quotes from the book:

"Mom says it's because she has PMS."
Steve almost choked but composed himself quickly.
"Do you even know what that means?"
Jonah pushed his glasses up. "I'm not a kid anymore. It means pissed-at-men syndrome."
--
"Sucks being you," she said.
--
"It was the beginning of something, too."
--
"If he weren't so damn cute, none of this would have happened."
--
"You're not who I thought you were! I thought you were better than this!"- Ronnie
--
"Go! You're leaving anyway, and we're never going to see each other again. Summers always come to an end. We can talk and pretend all we want, but we can 't change that, so let's just end it here and now. I can't handle all this right now, and I can't be with someone I don't trust."- Ronnie
--
-Steve-
"Life, he realized, was much like a song.
In the beginning there is mystery, in the end there is confirmation, but it's in the middle where all the emotion resides to make the whole thing worth while."
--
"God was (is) love in its purest form."

Enjoy the rest of the day! =)
God bless you...
